I'd love to hear what people think about the potential of cannabis industry jobs. Are these just a temporary fad or are these jobs here to stay? How would someone get into the industry without prior experience??
I do think there is a fad element to it. I was in Ventura, CA the other day and saw two dispensary's within a block from one another! Now I don’t think that will keep up.
But I do think it is here to stay. I would walk in and just ask questions man. Say you want to get into the business and ask - the worst they can say is go away.
I'm not so sure about that! Think about places that have multiple coffee shops all around. And cannabis stores tend to have higher profit margins per square foot. And don't under-estimate how many people out there love cannabis!
@Informed High I’m not underestimating it Haha! But even though legal now, there is still a stigma around it which will always drive some people away. That plus the fact of the bell curve, (which I think we might be on top of right now) I just think it will become more of a niche or specialized market. Think an all organic farmers market or specialized vitamin shop.
I believe the creative marketing industry surrounding the auxiliary software and packaging markets will have a lucrative future here in the United States.
I still haven't worked out the language to articulate my thesis in form. We are still very hopeful though!
I am a computer programmer and web developer and have been wanting to create a similar concept to weedmaps so I m there with you! Weedmaps revenue for 2019 was I believe close to $500 millions and as new dispensaries open, there their revenue will grow!
The packaging parties will continue to increase in revenue but I feel like they are making the packaging a little too fancy and is a higher cost of goods sold that will transfer to us, the end users. They are also creating a crazy amount of waste!
Man the waste issue, is a MAJOR issue. Companies are utilizing renewable hemp packaging in order retain a Natural (for the Benefit of us all) brand ethos. I hear places on the west coast near Oxnard, CA are fighting to keep their products environmentally friendly too!
@Decarbaked Love that you mentioned that! I'm not sure how profitable businesses pursuing this will be, but it's important work! I'd love to buy weed in containers made from hemp!
@Informed High I would too! Anything to save the environment!
Let me play devils advocate for a second thoug. How much more would you pay to save the environment? There are two containers one made of plastic and one of hemp. The hemp one is a dollar more. Do you buy it? Do you buy it every time? Most consumers won’t pay more then 10 cents one something like this.
I strongly believe that we will not have affordable prices until we can fully legalize industrial hemp transportation and agricultural systems. Until then, taxation and pricing will fluctuate while innovative production is stalled. Companies capable of utilizing renewable packaging can offer "refill" services instead of one time use packaging.

Couldn’t have said it better myself! Until Hemp is treated the same as corn or cotton, were not going to see a lot of movement here.
